The new Shorty starter housing is a typical form-meets-function design; smaller or electric start with less bulk is technically not possible. The BDL Shorty Drive kit comes with a rear pulley plate with starter housing; rear pulley with the BDL Balls lock-up clutch; starter gear cover; rear pulley cover; front pulley and belt.This 2\" electric start belt drive kit is designed to be used on 70-78 Shovelhead models with the ratchet top type 4-speed transmission; with rear chain only. Modifications are necessary to install this kit. Amongst others: When fitted to FX models; the oil tank bracket must be cut to allow proper fitment of the starter. On FL models this modification is not necessary. On both FL; FX models a L79-86 clutch arm (MCS 516400; OEM 37054-79A) must be used.
